Happy Holidays from the McMahons 2014

Once again,  we launch our eco-friendly holiday newsletter.  Thank you for opening it.

We spent most of 2014 on the road in our little 16' Casita camper.  We spent the winter months in Florida where we continue to be volunteer rangers at the Koreshan State Historic Site,  a 1900's commune and restored open air museum  near Fort Myers on the Gulf coast.

Joan ran an outdoor quilt show for the Park. John continued working on restoring buildings and equipment in the Industrial Area.

We were home just a few weeks to install solar panels on our camper roof when we headed to Fresno, California in June to catch up with the McMahon Clan.   It was great seeing the additions of the newest members and catching up with the brothers (4) and sisters (2 out there).

We headed up the coast of California and visited friends in Portland and Seattle.  While in Seattle,  we helped our friend Trish Carey remodel a room complete with John-built custom bookcases.  Super fun!  We left our car at Trish’s and put the Casita in storage,  then flew home for the month of July.   Spent one week at Puzzle Lake and then flew back to Seattle the first of August.

We started our trek through the Canadian Rockies, via Vancouver,  Lake Louise and Banff.  Our great adventure was the Level 4-5 white water raft trip where we donned a wet suit,  polar fleece jacket, rain gear, life jackets and gloves, and helmet.  It was quite the trip and we were the oldest people on board 3 rafts.  And we got soaked!

Glacier International Park was a favorite and we enjoyed the various bus trips through the area.  Met up with several more Casitas -  5 in one day.

We spent August on the road doing 10 states in 10 days,   3 time zones in 5 days, arriving home Labor Day weekend.  After a wonderful Casita Rally in Lancaster, PA in October we finally put the Casita in storage and settled in for a Fall at home after 9,000 miles of travel.

Next year promises to be tamer,  we hope.  But we wanted to get that big trip off our bucket list.

Our health continues to be good overall.  Some surgeries to deal with the old bones; Joan had both hands and foot done;  John will have both knees replaced in April 2015.  We hope your health continues to be good and that you and yours have a joyous and safe holiday season.

With much affection,

John and Joan
